Gun Rights Rally at the Arizona State Capitol

Sporting picket signs and wearing shirts saying "Bullets Make Me Happy", dozens of Arizonans armed with a handguns and assault rifles descend on the state capitol to rally against proposed federal gun control legislation, saying it is a direct threat to the constitutional right to keep and bear arms.

Rally spokesman Dean Weingarten says this rally is about protecting all the rights in the Constitution as they are safeguarded by the 2nd Amendment and that armed demonstrations, like this one, are about educating people about gun rights, not alienating them.

Weingarten says the eventual goal of the proposed federal assault weapons ban is to put us on a “slippery slope” to a ban on all private gun ownership and that “universal background checks” are just another way to disarm law abiding gun owners…

Passing by the rally on his way to a legislative hearing, Freshman Pinal County Republican State Representative Adam Kwasman voiced his agreement with the crowd that that the 2nd Amendment is under threat from “an imperial Presidency and a leftist Senate” and that seeing so many people, so well armed, demonstrating in front of the state capitol made him feel as safe as he could ever be.
